Accelerating global impact.
“It is still possible to avoid the very worst of climate change… We have seen some progress. But none of this is going far enough or fast enough.”
— UN Secretary-General António Guterres
Our vision is to increase the global expansion of existing, impactful climate innovations.
The solutions exist. We need to adopt them faster.
Catalyzing Change
Climate Scale-up leverages MIT’s REAP framework, a proven approach to entrepreneurship and innovation. Our mission is to drive systemic change by uniting entrepreneurs with key stakeholders such as universities, government bodies, corporations and investors at a global scale.
Climate scale-up acts as a catalyst for impact by facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement and action.
Expanding Impact
-
Reducing and eliminating carbon dioxide emissions, primarily through the transition from fossil fuel-based energy sources to renewable and cleaner sources of energy.
-
Actively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and sequester it for long periods. This approach is crucial for addressing the excess CO2 already in the atmosphere that contributes to global warming.
-
Enhancing the capacity of communities, ecosystems, and economies to withstand, recover from, and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
-
Targeting potent greenhouse gases like methane and non-CO2 emissions can yield immediate climate benefits. Controlling methane leaks from energy infrastructure and reducing non-CO2 pollutants like black carbon can slow warming.
-
Halting deforestation, stopping wildfires and promoting reforestation efforts can enhance carbon sinks and biodiversity, mitigating climate change and protecting ecosystems.
-
Protecting marine ecosystems and exploring carbon sequestration technologies can help mitigate the impacts of ocean acidification and rising sea levels.
-
While potentially a controversial approach, albedo management offers a range of potential tools to reduce warming and should be assessed to buy valuable time for other mitigation and adaptation efforts.
While, decarbonization and carbon removal are critical components of our climate strategy, they are not happening fast enough to avoid the climate crisis. We also need more climate solutions that do not have the material and supply constraints that limit the pace of decarbonization. Therefore, we are looking for a more diversified approach focusing on the following categories:

Peter Fernandez, Mombak
“Climate Scale-Up is amazing.
I literally would not be at Davos if it was not for Climate Scale-Up, because Davos is this giant, nebulous, hard to navigate event where it's very easy to get lost in the multiplicity of possible events that you could be at.
Climate Scale-Up is organizing it for us so that it's high value and we waste as little time as possible trying to figure out what to do.”
